Hi, I'm Lukas.
My first "big" adventure abroad came at the age of eight, when I flew to the Greek island of Thassos without my parents. Thanks to them I later travelled through Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, France and Spain, basically anywhere you could reach by car or train.
As an adult I went all in. In 2009 I quit my job and set off with friends on a six-month trip around the world. We climbed Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, rafted down the Nile in Uganda, bowed to the temple of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, travelled both islands of New Zealand, admired the Iguaçu Falls, waded through the Pantanal wetlands in Bolivia, got lost in the Colca Canyon in Peru and experienced much more.
My journey is not over, though. 😇 On the FollowLukas travel blog you will find my best experiences. I will tell you whether it is worth it, what it cost and what to avoid.
The places that impressed me most
Kilimanjaro
I climbed all the way to 5,895 metres and survived.
The Nile
I rafted down it from the source.
Angkor Wat
I bowed to its greatness.
Taj Mahal
I stood there at sunrise.
Annapurna Base Camp
A trek to base camp at 4,130 metres.
Pokhara
I flew a paraglider above the city.
Whale sharks
A fascinating experience in the south of Luzon.
Giant manta rays
Snorkelling I will never forget.
Colca Canyon
I bathed in the pools of a tropical oasis.
La Paz
I walked around one of the highest cities in the world.
New Zealand
14 days of trekking and beautiful nature.
Prosecco
My favourite drink from Valdobbiadene.
The internet is my office
I make a living in online marketing: as a strategist, consultant, PPC specialist, analyst, copywriter, social media content specialist and trainer. And lately, thanks to vibe coding and the Claude platform, as a website builder too. My profession lets me travel and carry my office with me. That is exactly why many of my friends and acquaintances thought for years that I do not work at all. 🤣
My whole career I have been a kind of digital nomad, which is why travel topics such as local SIM cards, eSIMs, coworking spaces or work-friendly cafés matter to me. And ordinary things too, like where to sit to charge my phone and laptop, and why to carry a power bank. Over time I will add tips here for anyone who works on the road.
How the travel blog works
Mostly I write about my own trips, but I also plan to bring trips of my friends and pass on their experience as interviews. It is always clearly marked whose experience it is. Some links are affiliate links: if you book through them I earn a small commission and it costs you nothing extra. I always mark collaborations. The site and the articles are made with the help of AI, while the experiences and the final check are mine. Thanks for reading, and travel with me.
Join the journey.
Every now and then I will write about where I went, what worked and what I would do differently.
