Czechia | Chatk_A: A-frame cabin for two in Chřibská

Chatk_A is in Chřibská, the same village as my favourite log cottage Vejminek, and it is run by the same people. It is a design A-frame cabin for two, and on Amazing Places (a Czech portal of special places to stay) it won the Glamping category in 2024. I was there before the award, on an evening when the sky above the terrace was on fire.

What is Chatk_A and what makes it special?

The cabin was built by Klára from the Amazing Places team with her partner Karel, and it took two years. It stands on the site of an original "A-frame" that they wanted to save, and it got a new look. It is 50 m² and sleeps two adults, and pets are allowed. If you love modern, elegant design and appreciate every detail, you will be happy here.

Inside there is underfloor heating, air conditioning, wi-fi, a fireplace or a stove, and a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, dishwasher and oven. By day it is a bright cabin, and at night it puts on a light show created by three special metal sheets.

What are the bathroom and sleeping like?

The bathroom is done in terrazzo in green and pink, with a white sink on a chest of drawers and a shower enclosure. You sleep upstairs under the triangular window, with a view into the valley.

What can you do here?

light the fireplace and watch the light show of the three special metal sheets after dark
sit on the terrace in the evening with wine and a guitar
swim in the natural pool right below the cabin
go on a trip to Bohemian Switzerland and the Lusatian Mountains
have blueberry pancakes (lívance) at the Na Stodolci restaurant
barbecue and light the fire pit

My experience

I stayed at Chatk_A before it won the award. In the evening we sat on the terrace, I played the guitar and we watched the sky change. I write about the neighbouring Vejminek in a separate article. The place has an Instagram profile, @chatk_a.
