I found the Naruby accommodation in the Jestřebí hory (Jestřebí Mountains), in Maršov u Úpice. It is three 3-room apartments (3kk) run by Láďa and Pavlína, and from there I set off to the Adršpach Rocks, whose main sights I walked through. The place is not on Amazing Places, so booking goes through Booking.com.

What is Naruby and what makes it special?

The apartments are larger, so they suit more people or a longer stay. The owners are on site and know the area. The Jestřebí hory are quieter than the Adršpach Rocks themselves, and from the ridge it is a short way to the rocks.

Prices are individual on the accommodation's website, and the price of a stay is calculated to order. The minimum stay is two nights, and in July and August they prefer weekly stays from Saturday to Saturday. You arrange it through an enquiry on the website, or you check the date and price directly on Booking.

What can you do here?

  • a trip to the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks from Janovice
  • Starosta and Starostová (the Mayor and his Wife), Myší díra (the Mouse Hole) and Milenci (the Lovers), three stops on a circuit
  • whole apartments with a kitchen, so you can cook
  • a quiet stay in the Jestřebí hory away from the main tourist stream

My experience

I travelled to the Jestřebí hory and from the stay I have a reel of the accommodation and a reel of the trip to the Adršpach Rocks. The accommodation has the profile @narubyubytovani.

What do the apartments look like?

Naruby has three larger attic apartments (3kk). Inside there is a bright living room with a dining corner, a fully equipped kitchen with a fitted kitchen unit and white tiles, and big windows onto the countryside. One apartment also has a children's corner with toys. The photos of the apartments are from the accommodation's website.

Ducks, hens and duck eggs

They have ducks and hens on the farm, and you can get fresh duck eggs here. The ducks run around in the enclosure by the wooden barn, and you can take fresh eggs home as a souvenir of your stay.

What is nearby?

  • The Adršpach-Teplice Rocks: set off from Janovice to avoid the biggest queues at the main entrance
  • Starosta and Starostová, Myší díra, Milenci: three names you will recognise on the circuit
  • The Broumov region (Broumovsko) with the monastery in Broumov

The accommodation has no restaurant of its own, so it pays to think about food in advance. A simple solution is to order groceries from Rohlík (a Czech online grocery delivery service) and have them delivered. Delivery depends on the address, though, so check before you travel whether it goes all the way to the place.

A trip to the Adršpach Rocks

From Naruby we set off to the Adršpach Rocks, which you can also reach by train, because there is a railway station in Adršpach. I write about the trip in detail, about the boat ride and the way back by train, in a separate article about the Adršpach Rocks.
