Osada V Háji: glamping cabins, cold-water swimming in the Sázava and a weekend with friends near Ledeč

Before you start reading, here is the gist
  • Osada V Háji is a former campsite converted into cabins by the Sázava river in Zahájí near Ledeč nad Sázavou, in the Vysočina region.
  • It has glamping cabins, summer cabins and a cottage for 12 people, 48 beds in total, ideal for a group of friends, team building or a wedding.
  • It is a community place, so do not expect privacy. I was there for a sports weekend and took a morning cold dip right in the Sázava.

Osada V Háji in Zahájí near Ledeč nad Sázavou is a former campsite converted into cabins by the Sázava river. I was there for a sports weekend and the place attracted me from the start, I had followed on Instagram how they rebuilt the whole camp. It is beautiful, but very big and communal, so do not expect privacy. It is ideal for a group of friends, team building or a wedding, not for a romantic getaway for two.

What is Osada V Háji?

It has 48 beds in three types of accommodation: glamping cabins, summer cabins and a big cottage. It is neither a classic campsite nor a hotel, more like accommodation in nature with facilities. The grounds have a children's playground, a fire pit, a covered pergola for sitting, and in summer refreshments from a kiosk. They do not offer meals, but catering can be arranged. You can also hire the whole grounds for a group.

What cabins do they have and what do they look like?

Glamping cabins

Five separate cabins (Pramen, Úsvit, Jehličí, Mlha and Soumrak, meaning Spring, Dawn, Needles, Mist and Dusk) for four people, each with a different colour and atmosphere. Inside you get a natural interior with custom Moroccan paving and tiles, a double bed and a sofa bed (160 × 190 cm mattress), your own bathroom with a shower and toilet, a hairdryer and towels. The kitchenette has a fridge, a two-burner hob, dishes, a kettle, a toaster, an air fryer and a capsule coffee machine (one capsule per person per day is included). The air conditioning both cools and heats, and outside you have your own terrace with seating and a fire pit. Bed linen is included.

Summer cabins

Four renovated original cabins from the campsite, each for four people. You sleep upstairs on a double bed and downstairs on a sofa bed, and bed linen and towels are included. The cabin has a fridge and a hob (no running water), and a fully equipped shared kitchen is in the grounds. The toilets and showers are shared and newly renovated (two toilets and two showers each for women and men). Each cabin has a small terrace for two, and you can borrow a corten steel grill. They are available in summer, from the beginning of July to the end of September. Dogs are allowed by prior agreement and for a fee, and there is no Wi-Fi in the grounds.

Cottage for 12 people

A big cottage for 12 people in a simple Scandinavian style, with a kitchen and dining room, a shared living space, two bathrooms and bedrooms that close. Great for several families or a group of friends.

What can you do there?

  • do sport and exercise outdoors on the meadow
  • swim in cold water right in the Sázava river, the pier is a short way from the grounds
  • roast sausages (buřty) over a fire and sit with a group of friends
  • go for walks along the river, swim at the weir 250 metres from the settlement
  • play at the children's playground or hire the whole grounds for a party or team building

For sport and for a group of friends I think it is an ideal place.

Cold-water swimming in the Sázava

In the morning I got up at eight and went straight into the Sázava for a cold-water swim. It was about 10 °C and the water was very cold, but very pleasant. From the pier you go straight into the river, so it is within easy reach.

Sports weekend

At the sports weekend we exercised outdoors on the meadow in the middle of the settlement. In the evening we sat by the fire and roasted sausages, which belongs at a place like this.
