Silverstone Living: horse ranch and spa below the Krkonoše

Before you start reading, here is the gist
  • Silverstone Living is an American-style ranch in Bystré nad Jizerou, on the border of the Krkonoše mountains and the Český ráj (Bohemian Paradise): log cabins, western horses and Texas longhorn cattle.
  • It suits relaxing in nature among animals: horse riding, feeding goats and donkeys, wellness and evenings by the fire.
  • We were almost alone there, and at weekends and in the holidays it is busier (with children too). The ranch paid me for videos, but this article is not paid.

Silverstone Living in Bystrá nad Jizerou is a ranch modelled on American ones, just built in the middle of the Podkrkonoší foothills. It is a farmstead on the border of the Krkonoše (Giant Mountains) and Český ráj, with roubenky (traditional timber log cottages), horses and animals, where you can switch off beautifully. The ranch hired me as an influencer and paid me for the videos I shot there. This article, however, is not a paid collaboration, it is my own experience of the stay. If you want to arrange a collaboration, you will find everything on the page Collaboration.

What is Silverstone and what makes it special?

Silverstone is a farmstead in nature that works both as a farm and as a stylish resort. They keep western horses and Texas cattle here, and the atmosphere recalls the Wild West. Amazing Places put it in the Upper Class category and in 2022 gave it the Magical Newcomer award, and they also list it among the biggest breeders of Quarter Horses.

On weekdays the ranch is reserved for adults, and at weekends, on public holidays and during school holidays it opens to families with children too. The motto of the place is "I know why I will return".

Where do you sleep here?

The accommodation is in apartments in traditional roubenky. They offer the apartments Společenský (Social), Svatební (Wedding), Vyhlídkový (Viewpoint), Krbový (Fireplace), Terasový (Terrace) and Mezonetový (Maisonette), all in a stylish country interior with a view of the garden and meadows. Capacities and prices are not published, so check them directly with them.

Is there a spa too?

Yes. The ranch has a private spa that you have all to yourself: a sauna, a hot tub, a small cooling pool and a salt cave. There are no strangers, so you can enjoy it in peace, for example after a full day of horse riding.

My experience

Silverstone is above all a place to relax: nature, animals and calm, where it is easy to clear your head. We were more or less alone there, which was completely different from full occupancy. We were in no hurry and had the ranch almost to ourselves. When it is running at full capacity, especially at weekends and in the holidays with families, the atmosphere will be different, so adjust what you expect from the stay accordingly.

I went for a horse ride, fed the goats and walked among the other animals they have here: donkeys, bulls and macaws.

What are the food and drink like?

The food was good. They grilled meat and sausages for us. They have an experience restaurant with home cooking from local ingredients, and the menu changes with the season. You can book through their website or by phone.

There is also a wine shop in the atmosphere of a wine cellar, with wooden barrels, candles and a fireplace. They have mostly Czech and Moravian wines, including their own, and a selection from wineries around the world. I tried a white wine there, but in autumn and winter I usually prefer red, and by the fireplace it would definitely suit me.
