Stromovny is a lookout cabin in the forest, where there is calm, quiet and solitude. It used to stand near České Budějovice, and now it stands by the Sázava river in Central Bohemia, near the village of Stříbrná Skalice, at the end of the Na Hradcích cottage area. On Amazing Places it is listed as glamping.
What is Stromovny and what makes it special?
Stromovny is a house in the treetops where people go for the calm. Inside there is a large bed with bed linen, a stove on which you can even make tea, and an equipped kitchenette. There is also a bookshelf: you can take a half-read book home with you and post it back after you finish it.
For me the main advantage is that I am in the forest, but not without comfort. The cabin has its own bathroom with a shower and a toilet, so at night you do not have to go out into the woods among the bogeymen. On the roof there is a terrace with seating and a gas grill. There is no wifi, but you can charge your phone in the sockets inside.
Who is behind Stromovny?
Behind Stromovny are Barča and Ludvík, two marketing enthusiasts who until then had only heard about working with their hands. Barča got the idea for a house in the treetops during a stay in China, and it then took another two years before the build got going. Above all, the owners are very pleasant.
What can you do here?
- relax in the hot tub, which is available all year round
- grill on the terrace and drink wine from the small wine cellar
- read from the bookshelf and do nothing
- just walk through the forest around the cabin
- digital detox: no wifi, only the stove, the view and the quiet
What is breakfast at Stromovny like?
In the morning you get a fantastic breakfast in a basket. The owner Bára brought it to us herself. The price also includes breakfast and a bottle of Italian wine (white, red or prosecco, you choose when booking).
My experience
I stayed in the lookout cabin for two, which had a stove, a shower and a grill. At that time it still stood near České Budějovice. You can find the post on Instagram. The place has the profile @stromovny.
What is nearby?
- the Sázava river and its banks
- the Na Hradcích cottage area
- the surrounding forests for walks
Stromovny has no restaurant, but when booking you can order a grill package, tapas or sausages for roasting, and the fridge has food for breakfast. You can also top up your shopping from Rohlík (a Czech online grocery delivery service), but check before you travel whether the delivery reaches the address.
Gift vouchers
Stromovny also has gift vouchers of any value, valid for a year from purchase. They also accept Amazing Places vouchers and the FKSP contribution (a Czech employer benefit for staff leisure). You can find booking and available dates on Amazing Places.
